Suero

Sound artist, composer and musician

Sound artist, composer and musician, Julia Suero develops an experimental sound practice at the crossroads of music, live performance, performance art and the visual arts. Her work approaches sound as a sensitive, plastic and relational material, able to converse with bodies, spaces, voices, images and other art forms.

She works with dance, theatre and circus companies and with visual artists. In live performance she acts both as composer and as musical dramaturg, often from the very first stages of creation. Music is not conceived as accompaniment but as an active part of the writing of the piece: it helps build the narrative, the movement, the space and the atmospheres.

Alongside this, she carries out extensive teaching and outreach work around listening and sound creation, through participatory projects and workshops with a wide range of audiences.

Teaching

Workshops, university teaching, participatory projects

Developing creative potential and learning through listening are at the heart of my teaching. I offer spaces where everyone can experiment, search and invent — sometimes from constraints and instructions, sometimes from the freedom of open possibilities. My artistic know-how becomes a tool serving each person’s imagination and collective expression.
