Legible Journey
Legible Journey, by Colectivo Línea 60, reinterprets Legible City (Jeffrey Shaw, 1988) as an immersive experience in which language, movement and territory are woven together. Seated on a stationary bike facing an architecture of 3D-printed letters, visitors pedal to trigger a sound composition built from 270 audio fragments recorded daily over nine months along a journey from La Rochelle to Athens.
The work demands a double commitment: physical, to keep up the pace that releases the stories; mental, to resist contemporary acceleration. The bike becomes a time machine — when the movement stops, the narrative is suspended.
Designed for public space, the installation frees digital art from its screens. The real landscape converses with the soundscapes, offering a sensory understanding beyond words. How do we grasp the world once we break free from the structures of language? The answer emerges in the persistence of the cyclical gesture, in the alchemy between bodily effort and acoustic memory.
