Catching lions needs a thousand dogs
Catching lions needs a thousand dogs is an artistic zone of freedom, where creatures invite themselves onstage to share their doubts, their courage, their desires and above all their dreams. A new political cabaret, as Bertolt Brecht might have dreamed it: a place where all the points of view on the world and the archetypes around us produce a sense of the common.
Inspired by the 1916 Cabaret Voltaire, birthplace of the Dada movement — born of a deep refusal of war and the arms society, iconoclastically exposing the failure of civilisation — the piece champions confusion and absolute doubt, and releases the virtues of spontaneity, movement and joie de vivre.
Utopia dreamt or waking dream, the stage machinery is laid bare: movable platforms, dressing rooms and wings onstage, the audience moving through the space with us to experience dance differently. Like a jukebox of humanity, the absurdity of the world and of our daily lives is brought into the open in its most immersive, generous and festive form. Embodying the contradictions of our world.
