Ici et maintenant

Ici et maintenant (“here and now”) is a performative visual installation with sound interaction, presented simultaneously at the Centre Intermondes (La Rochelle) and the Museo Fernández Blanco in Buenos Aires as part of BIENALSUR 2019. María Maggiori draws lines on paper with a brush, referring to the landscape around her and creating an endless chain of lines of lived time. Julia Suero explores the sound world of everyday life. The work unfolds in two places where the artists intervene with their bodies through a series of performances.

The work was conceived as a poetic, sensitive space of otherness in which to think about, question and play with the distance between two places and two people. Distance that separates and unites; metric and emotional distance; visual and sonic distance. The beyond is always there, in the here and now.

The sonic and visual materiality of the work answers the need to measure distance through line and point: lines that shorten or stretch and mark out a space full of crossings and points of convergence — the space of encounter. Sound marks the geolocated point of the person interacting with the work: invisible, yet palpable in the image.
